Small-Sized Redware Inkwell, American, late 18th to early 19th century, cylindrical form with central hole flanked by two smaller quill holes, the surface covered in a reddish-brown lead-and-manganese glaze. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from an inkwell collection amassed over the last thirty years, consigned to this auction. Two large shallow flakes to underside extending to bottom edge, the largest measuring 1 3/8" x 7/8". Two minor base nicks. Some shallow chips to top edge. Some expected surface wear. Diameter 2 3/4".
