Unusual Glazed Redware Jar, probably Norwalk, CT or Huntington, Long Island, New York, first half 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, applied lug handles, and visually-appealing elaborate tooling to rim and shoulder area, the surface decorated with manganese daubs and covered in a clear lead glaze. Provenance: Found by the consignor in the Huntington, Long Island, NY area. Rim wear. Some light surface wear. A 5/8" in-the-firing circular contact mark to one side. Three base chips, the largest measuring 1 1/8". Thin cracks at base, extending partway up side of jar, partially visible on interior. Wear to interior. H 9".
