Rare Bucks County, Pennsylvania Redware Jar with Incised Signature and 1891 Date, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and lead-and-manganese-glazed interior. An elaborate incised signature on the underside reads "Rock Hill 1891 / This Pott was made by John Pflieger of Rock Hill". John Pflieger, to our knowledge a previously-undocumented potter, is listed in the 1900 Federal Census as a sixty-four-year-old farmer from Germany living in East Rock Hill Township, Bucks County, PA. Excellent condition. H 5 1/4" ; Diameter 7 1/4".
