Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Cream Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "T.D. METCALF / Sunbury, Pa," circa 1880, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and flattened rim, decorated with a brushed graduated leaf design and cobalt highlights to the maker's mark. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a 3/4" in-the-firing, glazed-over crack in rim.
