Two Unusual Rockingham Teapots with Chinese Motifs, attributed to the Swan Hill Pottery, South Amboy, NJ, second half 19th century, one with Chinese man carrying tea bales, with embossed words "CHOP / CNIST / HYSON, CNUOY", the other with figure of a Chinese man carrying tea bales on a stick, underscored "OOLONG". The oolong teapot is this lot was an advertising giveaway for the A & P Tea Company, made at the Swan Hill Pottery (see Branin, p. 205). Oolong teapot with restored finial, reglued spout and cracks at base. Larger teapot with interesting hand-carved wooden make-do finial, chip and hairline to lid, faint lines around base, one lid closure flange missing on top of pot and the other with a chip. H (of Ooling teapot) 7 1/4".
