Rare and Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "HARRINGTON & BURGER / ROCHESTER," New York State origin, circa 1852-1854, ovoid churn with flared collar and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed flowering plant, the blossoms with clamshell form and spotted interiors. Heavy cobalt shading throughout. Slip-trailed "3" above. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Excellent form, decoration, and color. One of the finest examples by this desirable, short-lived Rochester pottery to come to auction in recent years. Excellent condition with a faint Y-shaped surface line to shoulder on reverse, not visible on interior.
