One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Impressed Decoration, Stamped "COMMERAWS," Thomas Commeraw, Manhattan, NY, early 19th century, ovoid jug with heavily-tooled base and neck, the front decorated with an impressed and cobalt-highlighted "clamshell" design surrounded by tassels. COMMERAWS maker's mark below. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Restored handle. 2 3/4" long recessed dry area on reverse. A very tight 7 1/2" line on side of jug with a few short lines extending of from it. One shallow base chip.
