Two One-Gallon Stoneware Jars with Cobalt Decoration, probably New Jersey origin, circa 1825, an ovoid jar with circular flower motif, attributed to the Bissett Pottery, Old Bridge, NJ; paired with a second ovoid jar with stylized brushed drape design, NJ or CT origin. Bissett jar with 2 1/2" loss to rim, a 2 1/2" spider line from rim on reverse, a few shallow rim chips and a minor U-shaped line in rim, an in-the-firing chip to side, and two glazed-over iron/stone pings. Other jar with handle lost during firing, with glazed-over area where handle should have been, and a glazed-over chip above this area, indicating the jar may have tipped over during the firing, as well as minor base wear.
