Very Rare Fremont, North Carolina Stoneware Advertising Jar, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1880, one-gallon, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and squared rim, featuring the impressed advertising "C. D. BEST / GENERAL MERGHANT. / FREMONT, N. C.". Sides of jar decorated with two large brushed clovers. This jar was made in Baltimore, Maryland for the North Carolina merchant, C.D. Best. Baltimore advertising stoneware made for the North Carolina market is considered very difficult-to-find. Salt drip on shoulder. 3" tight Y-shaped hairline to shoulder, partially visible on interior. Some minor chipping to bottom edge of rim.
