Grier, Chester County, PA, third quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with applied lug handles and tooling to shoulder and rim, decorated on the front and reverse with a large double-tulip design. Additional cobalt to handle terminals. A particularly fine example of Grier stoneware, likely made fairly early in his career. Very nice condition. Glazed-over base chip.
