Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, attributed to Brady & Ryan, Ellenville, NY, circa 1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a chicken with spot-and-stripe-decorated body, pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. Long sealed crack from rim on front. Sealed Y-shaped crack on underside, with two small sections of crack continuing onto base and a large horizontal crack extending off from this damage onto base area of reverse. Tiny rim nick.
