Rare Small-Sized Stoneware Preserve Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, attributed to the Coffman Family, Rockingham Co., VA, third quarter 19th century, squat-shaped ovoid jar with tall collar and applied ribbed handles, decorated front and back with a slip-trailed undulating vine embellished with numerous brushed leaves. A good example of this distinctive Shenandoah Valley form, surviving in remarkable condition. Two minor rim nicks. A few minor nicks to one handle. H 6 1/2".
