Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, mid 19th century, ovoid pitcher with semi-rounded rim, decorated with a large brushed design of a two-stemmed flowering plant with daisies, unusual draped brushwork below the spout, and swags flanking the spout. Desirable large size and impressive decoration. Daisy motifs on Baltimore stoneware of this period are considered scarce. Professionally-restored handle. Professionally-restored top-to-bottom crack on left side of pitcher's front, which extends onto underside. Small chip to spout. Numerous lines to right side of collar.
