Fine and Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Folky Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1835, ovoid pitcher with footed base and short collar, the body decorated around the circumference with a vine bearing stylized tulips, embellished with heavily-dashed tips. Collar decorated with brushed swags and hanging flowers. This pitcher is the first example we have seen bearing this particular design around the midsection. Excellent size, form, and decoration. Several tight lines to base area and underside. Spout chip and rim chip. Tight vertical line on top of handle, not visible on underside, and likely an in-the-firing flaw.
