Scarce Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Pitcher, New Jersey origin, mid 19th century, ovoid pitcher with flared collar, the body and collar accented with tooled incising. Midsection of pitcher decorated with a slip-trailed "3" surrounded by wavy lines. Additional wavy line decoration on the sides of the collar. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Professional restoration to spout, rim, and areas on body and underside. Some light exfoliation on right side of pitcher. Two short, tight lines from rim, not visible on interior. Two minor rim nicks on reverse.
