Very Rare C. & W. Kirkpatrick, Anna Pottery Letter, Anna, Illinois, Dated Sept. 6, 1888, hand-written letter on original Anna Pottery letterhead, featuring the printed inscription "C. & W. KIKPATRICK, / PROPRIETORS OF / THE ANNA POTTERY / MANUFACTURERS OF / STONEWARE, GARDEN & CEMETERY VASES, / AND DEALERS IN / PORCELAIN AND FIRE CLAY, / Anna, Illinois". Letter reads "Mess. Schreiber & Bros. / Gents / Yours at hand Informing us of the return of the Pans / Sorry you made the mistake in your order / You certinly (sic) Said 1 gal crocks- which always take to mean Milk Pans- Had you Said Jars or what you wanted them for we would have known / Very Truly Yours / C. &. W. Kirkpatrick / P.S. Our stock of 1 gal Jars is very low Just now but in Two or 3 weeks will have better supply / C. & W. K.". Ephemera related to the Kirkpatrick brothers' Anna Pottery is considered extremely rare. This letter, while also decorative, offers interesting insight into the dealings between the Kirkpatricks and their customers, and the problems that may arise in filling a pottery order. Included in a gilt-bordered mahogany frame. Excellent condition with typical fold marks. Dimensions (of letter): 9 1/2" x 6". Dimensions (of frame): 12" x 10 1/16".
