Five-Gallon Double-Handled Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Decoration, Midwestern origin, second half 19th century, cylindrical jug with wide spout and handles applied from the spout to the shoulder, the front decorated with a slip-trailed "5" underscored with flourishes and a large looping line accented with spots. Includes antique wooden stopper. Large in-the-firing iron ping to front. Large tight lines throughout much of jug's surface. A few drips of staining to left side of front. 1 1/4" chip to underside at edge of jug.
