Fine Green-Glazed Redware Jar with Lid, New England origin, first half 19th century, small-sized ovoid jar with footed base and rounded rim, the surface covered in streaky green copper glaze and decorated with daubs of manganese. Each application of the manganese decoration alternates between the shoulder and the base. Includes a well-fitting lid with heavily-tooled surface and similar green copper glaze, probabLy original to the jar. A small area of five flakes to surface. Rim chips. Some minor base wear. Lid with reglued piece, knob chips, and light edge wear. H (excluding lid) 6 1/8".
