Extremely Rare Sewertile Ewe and Lamb Doorstop, attributed to the National Tile Company, Anderson, Indiana, early 20th century, hand-modeled sewertile figures of a mother sheep with lamb, both with heavily-applied clay coats, large circular eyes, and protruding tongues, seated atop a sewertile brick. Most likely one of three known animal groupings on a sewertile brick produced by the National Tile Company. Provenance: Collection of Jack and Susan Batdorff. Various chips including chips to wool, a chip to tongue of ewe and lamb, a chip to left eye of ewe, and a chip to two corners of doorstop. Some additional small losses to two feet and tail of lamb, as well as one half of ewe's front foot. Lamb reglued to base. L 8 7/8" ; W 3 7/8" ; H 7 1/2".
