Yale Stoneware Commemorative Mug, Dated 1900, cylindrical mug with applied handle, rounded rim, and Albany-slip-glazed surface. Sgraffito-decorated with the Yale seal in front of crossed oars. The sides of the mug are incised with the slogans "HERE'S TO NAUGHTY NAUGHT / SHE'S A BEAUTY AND A SPORT" and "HERE'S TO GOOD OLD YALE / DRINK HER DOWN / DRINK HER DOWN". Handle incised "Y 1900". Underside incised "HWB / 1900". The term "NAUGHTY NAUGHT" was a nickname for the Class of 1900. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, recently found in CT. As-made condition with contact mark / chip to shoulder. H 5".
