Exceptional Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Profuse Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK & CO. / ROCHESTER, NY," circa 1840, ovoid jug with tapered spout, lavishly-decorated with a slip-trailed flowering plant featuring a spotted daisy and fan-shaped blossoms. Heavy shading throughout. Slip-trailed "3" below maker's mark. Outstanding decoration, color, and condition. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with three in-the-firing surface lines in spout, visible to right of handle.
