Rare and Fine Glazed Redware Pitcher with Copper Leaf Decoration, New England origin, early 19th century, ovoid pitcher with footed base, short flaring collar, and heavily-ribbed handle, decorated with two green copper leaves, the surface covered in a clear lead glaze over a mottled orange ground. A skillfully-potted, thin-walled example with excellent form and unusual decoration. Chipping to rim. Losses to foot molding on reverse. Flecks on glaze wear to handle. Nicks to shoulder molding. 5/8" circular contact mark to front. A minor fleck of glaze loss to reverse. H 10 1/2".
