One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, probably Midwestern origin, mid 19th century, ovoid pitcher with tooled shoulder, narrow collar, and ribbed strap handle, decorated with a stylized cobalt plant, brushed over slip-coated clay. Cobalt dashes and dots to handle. Late 19th or early 20th century painted butterflies to surface. Horizontal hairline in handle. Contact marks to rim. Two minor base nicks and a small chip to underside at edge. 4" vertical crack on side, continuing onto underside. Crazing to underside and base.
