Rare One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Pitcher, Stamped "C. CROLIUS, / MANUFACTURER, / NEW-YORK," Manhattan, NY origin, early 19th century, highly-ovoid pitcher with short collar and tooled accents to body and rim, the midsection decorated with a brushed cobalt drape design. Albany-slip-glazed interior. Additional cobalt highlights to maker's mark. A difficult-to-find form in Crolius stoneware. Chips to left side of rim. Some exfoliation to interior of rim. Some light exfoliation to base area. Hairlines in underside, connecting to a 1 1/4" long T-shaped line at base on reverse. Some small shallow base chips. Heavy exfoliation to bottom half of interior. H 11".
