Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Coggled Bird Decoration, attributed to the Morgan / Van Wickle Pottery, Old Bridge, NJ, early 19th century, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and tapered collar with rounded rim, decorated around the shoulder with coggled and cobalt-highlighted design of a bird holding a branch in its beak. Attribution based on sherds recovered by Robert J. Sim from the Van Wickle & Morgan Pottery site of Old Bridge, NJ, now at the New Jersey State Museum, Trenton, NJ. Excellent, essentially as-made condition.
