Two-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "MABBETT & ANTHONE / PO'KEEPSIE, NY," circa 1837-1839, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt leaf above a cobalt script "2". Includes Albany-slip-glazed lid, which appears to be original. Jar in excellent, essentially as-made condition. Chips to lid.
