Unusual Miniature Redware Presentation Pitcher, Incised "Ida Basham," probably Southeastern U.S., second or third quarter 19th century, ovoid pitcher with footed base and flared rim, the surface covered in a reddish-brown, lead-based glaze colored with iron or manganese. Incised in script along midsection "Ida Basham". A few women by this name were found through Federal Census research living in a number of states during the second half of the 19th century. Excellent form and size. Chip on interior of spout, partially visible on exterior. Some additional small rim chips. A shallow base chip. H 4 1/8".
