Rare Presentation Redware Hunt Scene Pitcher, probably New Jersey origin, second or third quarter 19th century, large-sized, hound-handled pitcher with molded design of hounds overtaking a stag on one side, the opposite side with design of dogs attacking a boar. Collar with relief grapes design. Surface covered in a streaky, Rockingham-style manganese glaze over a reddish-orange clay ground. Shoulder with applied cream-colored clay letters "JOHN DE MOLITOR". Overlying clear lead glaze to surface. Large, approximately 4 1/2" x 2" reglued section at spout. Additional spout chips. Flakes to lettering. A few small flakes on one side. H (to top of handle) 10 5/8".
