One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to R.J. Grier, Chester County, PA, circa 1880, ovoid pitcher with footed base and semi-squared rim molding, decorated with a large brushed cobalt flower across the front and swags to the left and right. Collar decorated with cobalt swags and spout decorated with diagonal cobalt dashes. Chipped section to base. Small chip to midsection on front. 3 1/4" V-shaped crack to spout area, presumably a reglued section. Small spout nick. Rim chip on front. Smaller rim chip on reverse. Shallow exfoliation to interior of collar.
