Two Pieces of Utilitarian Redware, Pennsylvania origin, 19th century, a redware jar with lead-and-manganese glazed interior and post-firing carved initials "S H," presumably for "Snow Hill," as the bowl had been purchased at the Snow Hill Nunnery Sale, held at Horst Auctions in 1997; paired with a glazed redware batter pitcher with sponged manganese decoration, raised on six heart-shaped feet. Jar in very nice condition with a chip to bottom edge and some minor flakes to shoulder. Batter pitcher with crack across underside, continuing partway up body of pitcher, along with a 2 3/4" crack from rim, two rim chips, and wear to rim, spout, and handle, the handle with additional chipping to bottom spur. H (of jar) 8 3/4".
