Fine Multi-Glazed Redware Tankard Pitcher, Strasburg, VA origin, late 19th century, cylindrical-form pitcher with footed base, tooled shoulder, and flared, the surface decorated with streaks of green and brown over a mottled ground of cream-colored slip and orange clay. This example is slightly smaller than most tankard pitchers known, exhibits excellent color, and survives in great condition. 2 1/2", in-the-firing line from rim, which partially glazed over. Additional 1" surface line from spout, visible on exterior only. Tiny nicks to rim and spout. An additional minor rim chip. H 9".
