Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Slip-Trailed Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "B.C. MILBURN / ALEXA," Alexandria, VA origin, circa 1850, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and back with a slip-trailed tulip design consisting of three blossoms extending from heavily-leaved stems. A very nice example of Milburn's slip-trailed work, exhibiting good color. Heavy shallow chipping to base. Minor chip to end of one handle. Small, shallow chip to end of opposite handle. A few minor nicks to shoulder molding.
