Three-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Smith & Day, Norwalk, CT, circa 1840, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a boldly slip-trailed design, including a stylized daisy to the left and palm-tree-shaped motif to the right. Cobalt wavy line decoration to shoulder. 3" surface line on reverse, not visible on interior. Restored rim chips. Two minor surface lines at base, measuring 1/2" and 3/4" lines at base. An additional very faint line on underside. Base with a few chips and several tiny nicks. Some staining to surface.
