Scarce Six-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Large Cobalt Cornucopia Decoration, Stamped "HAXSTUN, OTTMAN & CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1870, semi-ovoid churn with heavily-tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a very large slip-trailed design of a cornucopia with scrolled tip, overflowing with flowers, leaves, and dotted trails. Includes salt-glazed lid. Significant exfoliation to reverse. 2 1/2" rim chip on side of churn. Glazed-over stone ping to right of one handle. Blurriness to decoration. Typical wear to ledge on interior of rim, where a lid would rest. Light exfoliation to underside. Lid with 1 1/4" hairline, tiny nick, and minor chip.
