Very Rare Large-Sized Stoneware Garden Urn, attributed to Wallace and Cornwall Kirkpatrick, Anna, IL, fourth quarter 19th century, with wheel-thrown, rustic base in the form of a tree stump, embellished with heavy incising. Urn is ornately-thrown with molded and applied cherub's head handles, flanked by wings. Brown slip highlights to cherubs and brown slip banding to body of urn. A similarly-styled urn is pictured in newspaper advertisements place by the Kirkpatricks. Exceptional form and impressive size. Restoration to large section of rim. Restoration to section of one cherub wing. 6" crack from rim of urn. Heavy chipping to interior shoulder area of urn, as well as a few minor chips to interior of rim. H 22 1/2".
