Two Midwestern Stoneware Crocks, circa 1875, both of cylindrical form with semi-rounded rims and applied lug handles, one with slip-trailed decoration of an “8” underscored by a “bee-stinger”; the other slip-trailed “4” with underlying looping lines. Eight-gallon crock with some tight surface lines and two rim chips. Four-gallon crock with crack on underside, extending several inches up crock on right side of front, as well as a handle chip, a few salt drips on side of crock at rim, and some stained spots.
