Glazed Redware Jar with Lid, Connecticut origin, circa 1840, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and flared rim, the surface decorated with daubs of manganese and covered in a clear lead glaze over a distinctive red ground. Lead-glazed redware lid possibly original or a later addition. Jar with 1 1/2" restored rim chip, primarily on interior of rim. Scratches to surface. Some small spots of glaze loss to rim. Lid with restored chip and wear to knob. H 10 3/4".
