Rare Quart-Sized Stoneware Canning Jar, Stenciled "A.P. DONAGHHO, / Parkersburg, W.Va.," circa 1880, squat-shaped, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and flared rim with "wax sealer" interior. Body of jar decorated with bold-faced Donaghho stenciling in capital letters, underscored by the town of origin "Parkersburg, W.Va.". An unusually-shaped, small-sized canning jar, which differs slightly from the well-known Donaghho "top hat" form. Possibly the smallest Donaghho jar we have ever offered. Thin, crescent-shaped contact mark with clay residue on shoulder. Additional 1 1/4" contact mark to side of jar. Small chip to inner wax sealer rim. H 5 3/8".
