Rare Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Folky Dove and Olive Branch Decoration, Ohio origin, circa 1860-1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed flying dove with striped neck and heavy feather detail, holding a branch in its mouth. Shoulder with slip-trailed "4" underscored with stripes. Excellent folk art design. 7 3/4" x 7" reglued triangular wedge on side of crock with two cracks extending 4" off of wedge. Rim chip.
