Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Incised Floral Decoration, Impressed "T W," Ohio origin, possibly Thomas Wilbur, second quarter 19th century, highly ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and large lug handles, the front decorated with a large incised and cobalt-highlighted flower accented with incised slashes. The large impressed mark "T W" at the shoulder may refer to potter, Thomas Wilbur, who operated near Zanesville, Ohio during the second quarter of the 19th century. A nicely-decorated example of Midwestern stoneware. Excellent condition with some rim chips.
