Rare Ten-Gallon Double-Handled Stoneware Jug with Bold Folk Art Grape Vine Decoration, Ohio origin, mid 19th century, highly ovoid jug with squared spout and applied handles, the front decorated with a large, thickly-brushed design of grape clusters hanging from a leafy vine. Brushed cobalt "10" above. Excellent size, form, and color, with particularly striking decoration. Restoration to one handle. Restoration to section of spout. Spidering lines and cracks throughout, which appear to be in-the-firing. 1 3/4" chip to underside at edge. Some other chips to underside. H 22".
