Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt House and Floral Decorations, Dated 1835, Pennsylvania origin, possibly Huntingdon County, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and thick, semi-squared rim. Front decorated with a brushed flowering plant surrounding a stylized house with spotted windows and dormer. Reverse with the large brushed cobalt date "1835" flanked by dashes. Jar is out-of-round. Crack at base, forming hairlines and extending onto underside. Rim chips. Some scratches to salt glaze. H 7 1/2".
