Very Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Flask, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1825-1830, tall, narrow flask with flattened sides and semi-squared spout, decorated on each side with a large brushed cobalt flower with fan-shaped blossom. A rare form with cobalt decoration, and highly unusual among surviving examples of Baltimore stoneware. One of less than twenty examples from Baltimore known. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, recently found in Washington, D.C. As-made condition with a glazed-over spout chip and a salt drip to opposite side of spout. H 9 1/4".
