Exceptional Diminutive Stoneware Canning Jar with Elaborate Freehand Cobalt Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, tapered jar form with tooled bands and flared "wax sealer" rim, decorated with a finely-brushed fuschia design at the shoulder, along with eight straight and wavy cobalt stripes. Very rare decoration and desirable small size. Base chip. Small worn spot to rim. Tiny nicks to shoulder molding. A few chips to inner wax sealer rim. H 6 3/4".
