Very Rare Glazed Redware Jar, Impressed "Ed Prosser.," and "A. WILCOX," West Bloomfield, Ontario County, NY, circa 1850, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and slightly-flared rim, covered in a lead glaze over a colorful reddish and pale-green ground. The highly unusual impressed name, "Ed Prosser," refers to Edwin Prosser, who worked alongside his brother, George, at the Alvin Wilcox pottery, circa 1850. Excellent glaze and very rare mark. Excellent condition with three very minor base chips and a rim chip. H 9".
