Rare Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "ROARK," James M. Roark, Denton County, TX, circa 1868-1884, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and flared rim, covered in a salt glaze. Albany-slip-glazed interior. Impressed on the shoulder with the maker's mark of James M. Roark, which reads simply "ROARK." Long Y-shaped crack in base area on reverse, extending onto underside. Expected light wear to interior of rim where a lid would rest. H 10 1/2".
