Rare Ten-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, attributed to Daniel Seagle, Lincoln Co., NC, circa 1840, skillfully-potted ovoid jar with thin rounded rim and large pocket handle, covered in an olive-colored alkaline glaze. Impressed "10" on one handle. Missing handle shows the edge of an impressed rectangular mark. Impressive and unusually-large size. Lacking one handle, which appears to have been lost during the firing. 3/4" hole in shoulder. Significant raised cracks under one handle. In-the-firing dryness to one side. H 19".
