Exceptional Presentation Stoneware Yale Mug with Elaborate Incised and Cobalt-Highlighted Decoration, Incised "F.T. Persons '94 / 60 South Middle / Yale / Apr. 9. 1894," cylindrical mug with rounded shoulder and applied handle, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted Yale Fence flanking an incised Yale Shield, which reads "YALE '94." Incised and cobalt-highlighted Greek slogan above translates to "Reinvigorated with all their glasses filled, they once again sang out." Midsection features the incised and cobalt-highlighted German poem, which translates to "I am a little stein / Not ever do I hold wine / Just always beer / So come now here / And drink out of this stein." One side of mug features an incised and cobalt-highlighted scroll, which lists the following names "P.W. Saunders, T.L. Ellis, F.L. Keays, Ernest Knaebel, H.H. Kellogg, W.D. Hood, and F.T. Persons." Opposite side decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted cartouche, which reads "B.U. / CHC / N.H.T." Handle incised with the cobalt-highlighted inscription "OLD SOUTH MIDDLE 1750". Underside incised "F.T. Persons '94. / 60 South Middle / Yale / Apr. 9. 1894." (This name is also listed within the scroll on the side of the mug.) A particularly fine example. Mint condition.
