Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Elaborate Cobalt Floral and Wreath Decorations, Stamped "WHITES UTICA NY," circa 1865, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed flowering plant design. Maker's mark surrounded by a cobalt wreath. A particularly well-decorated example of White family stoneware. Provenance: Lynn White Collection, Readfield, ME. Streaks of light staining to surface. 4 1/2" colored crack from rim on reverse. 3" hairline from rim on side of crock. 1 1/2" in-the-firing separation from rim on interior. Minor 1" in-the-firing separation from rim on reverse. Rim chips. H 13 1/4".
