Rare Half-Gallon Manganese-Decorated Stoneware Jug, attributed to George Newman Fulton, Alleghany Co., VA, circa 1875, cylindrical jug with tooled shoulder and finely-potted spout, the front brush-decorated in manganese with a stem bearing large leaves or flower buds. Decoration flanked by dashed brushwork and underscored by swags. Rare small size for this desirable Shenandoah Valley maker. Spout chip. H 9 1/8".
